Greetings

My main occupation for the past 35 years has been a dedicated public health leader and servant, striving to improve the health and quality of life for the residents of Louisiana. Always guilty of multi-tasking, I lead a full-life, engaging in multiple pursuits, which keeps me mentally energized.

   

To that end, my interest in understanding more about my family’s history has kindled a fascination with the subject of ancestry.  After years of compiling more and more historical facts from census data and courthouse records, I find that merely documenting the lives of my ancestors is devoid of the human emotions that either excelled them to reaching higher heights or drove them to commit unthinkable acts.  Thus I have been thinking more about the story behind the data, and have committed to writing this story. By the very nature of its historical context, this story should be construed as fiction guided by factual data.  It will be further informed by my and others' thoughts about what motivated individuals’ actions.

   

Through this website, I plan to include you in my journey to writing my family’s story. With your support and interest, I know that I will succeed as failure is not an option.  This web site provides a place to post questions and encourage exchange of information as well as dialogue around the social and political issues raised by the story. I will also share more of my personal story along the way, which I hope will make you laugh or cry, and will bring us all closer in touch with our own humanity.
